FAQs

When will you release more information about the line up & programming for THE TABERNACLE! 2024?

We are glad you are so excited about THE TABERNACLE! 2024. We are diligently partnering with Spirit & community members to pursue the resources required to create a luxe, abundant experience for the givers. We look forward to releasing details including venues, headliners and healing activation partners by October 28, 2024. We appreciate your patience as we build a space that reflects our liberatory imaginations.

What is the purpose of The Givers Revival?

Freedom fighting and healing must go hand-in-hand. This year, many of our most committed and brilliant organizers will be nose deep in the midterm elections. The US South, and Florida specifically, are sites of extreme contention during US election cycles. Our core values are attacked. Our votes are attacked. Our basic civil rights are attacked. Our freedom fighters have been on the battlefield during the 2024 elections, protecting our liberties. Activists and organizers often move from one fight to the next without stopping to rest, recover and reground. “The Givers” of our movements are great at training, strategizing and fighting. We must become just as intentional with healing and honoring what is within, that which called us to do these love labors in the first place. Doing so is vital for a sustainable, healthy movement. One that embodies the liberation we are seeking. The Givers Revival is where we will rinse and refill our cups. The Givers Revival creators are your comrades-in-arms. We’ve been exploring our needs and this is our gift to you: a space for us all to lick our wounds, rest, connect and enjoy each other. The Givers Revival is our watering hole.

What is a “revival”?

For the founders of The Giver Revival, revivals are nostalgic events from our spiritual & religious upbringing as children in the Black baptist & pentecostal church. Revivals were multi-day church events centering the presence of the Holy Spirit during which we experienced the most authentic and true expressions of the spirit of love, connection and ecstatic joy that church ceremony had to offer us. While historic and contemporary bigotry and violence have moved us away from mainstream churches, we still find great value in the idea of a revival. A time to be re-enlivened and reconnected with Spirit - in whatever way is most true for the individual. Revivals are about renewal, awakening and deep connection to the presence of the Divine in our lives. We resonate deeply with this definition:

revival (noun): /rəˈvīvəl/ an improvement in the condition or strength of something. An instance of something becoming popular, active, or important again. The awakening or quickening of God/Good’s people to their true nature and purpose.

Who are “the Givers”?

We refer to all attendees of The Givers Revival programming as “givers”. Givers are organizers, practitioners, leaders, artists, helping professionals, innovators, political actors, community folk and families involved in social justice & liberation movements.

Does this event promote a specific religious tradition?

No. Givers are welcome from all walks of life and expected to respect and celebrate all traditions. Event activities are grounded in African, African-diasporic, Indigenous and Eastern spiritual & healing ways including ancestral honoring, meditation, Kemetic yoga, sound baths, libations, plant medicine making and much more.

Are attendees from outside of Miami welcome?

Yes! We are especially excited to welcome attendees from around the world.
